Bio/Contact Information
My name is J Wynia. Everyone calls me "J". Just the letter. No, it's not my given name, but it's what you can call me. I live in St. Paul, Minnesota in a small 2 bedroom, 100 year old house with my wife, Shelly, and our "kid", Bailey the Basset Hound.
History
I was born in Sioux Center, IA, where most of my extended family on both sides lives. My parents moved to MN when I was still pre-memory, so, as far as I'm concerned, I've always lived in Minnesota. I "grew up" in the New London/Spicer area of Central Minnesota (about 90 miles west of St. Paul/Minneapolis). I went to a private elementary school and the regular public high school. My senior year of HS was spend in a program that Minnesota has called "post-secondary enrollment option" where you go to college instead of HS. Under that program, I attended what was then Willmar Community College full time for my senior year. After HS, I spent one year at St. John's University until the financial aid ran out. I dropped out for a term and delivered furniture before returning to school at St. Cloud State University. At SCSU, I majored in, and received a degree in, English. I graduated in February 1998 and started working at Agris as a technical writer. Shortly thereafter I was married to Shelly.
Through a series of bad career judgements, some soul searching and some time spent unemployed after quitting a horrible position, I joined the staff at Analysts International in 1999 and have been a consultant with them ever since. My assignments have included Wells Fargo, an internal RAD team and 3M doing some technical writing early on and mostly web development for the latter assignments. I also worked as an Associate Professor at National American University for 2 terms teaching web development and web server administration. However, lacking a Master's degree, I was not asked to continue when they began enforcement of that requirement.
I currently work with XSLT/HTML/CSS/Javascript building interfaces for server generated XML. The system handles over 400 unique configurations and over 40 languages and dialects. I use PHP for several internal tools and sites that help us manage our main site better.
